Cocktail Hour #2

Sea Breeze. Regardless of the fact this cocktail has a nautical name, it is a refreshing long drink to have in warm weather. According to Wikipedia, this cocktail has taken on various forms since its beginnings in the 1920s, but is known today as consisting of vodka, cranberry juice and grapefruit juice. The best part of these ingredients is that you can get the juices in canned/bottled form – they don’t need to be fresh, although fresh grapefruit juice is considerably sharper in taste.

For the modern Sea Breeze, as specified by the International Bartenders Association, the amounts of each ingredient are:

  • 40 ml Vodka
  • 120 ml Cranberry juice
  • 30 ml Grapefruit juice

In Australia this is roughly

  • 1 1/3 Shots Vodka
  • 4 Shots Cranberry juice
  • 1 Shot Grapefruit juice

Build all ingredients in a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with lime wedge.
